A few years ago while perusing the aisles of the bookstore closest to my parents I happened upon a bubble gum pink copy of #GirlBoss by Sophia millennial. I was instantly drawn to her vibe and determination and given the fact that I’m a sucker for a deprecating auto biography I devoured this book in a weekend. For those of you that don’t know, Sophia Amoruso is the creative genius behind the wildly popular NastyGal retailer which started as an e-bay store. I was most inspired by her story because of the rags-to-riches aspect. Sophia started her business from nothing but an idea and a hell of a lot of hard work.
I finally had a day off and had the chance to fully invest myself into the Netflix series created surrounding Sophia’s life by the same name, GirlBoss. I wasn’t sure how the series would depict Sophia’s rise to success but I was impressed but not surprised by Britt Robinson’s performance. Britt Robinson has always been a proponent to enigmatic characters and her interpretation of Sophia Amoruso was no different. I both loved and hated how she lived up to every millennial fuck-all attitude that has been portrayed so many times before. As the series goes on you see a deeper insight into why
Sophia is the way that she is and suddenly all of those little things that make you hate her become more understandable. There was a lot about Sophia’s story that I identified with but her shortcomings were perhaps some of the most relatable. It is rare that we see the story of someone who truly fucks up and has to take responsibility for what she has d
one. Something that I have come to terms with as of late is how much it sucks when you have to admit you fucked things up and move on.
So if you have any time on your hands, add GirlBoss on Netflix, or check out nastygal’s website!
Fall is the one of my favorite times of the year simply because of the outfit possibilities. My fall wardrobe consists of stripes, cuffed jeans, slouchy cardigans, neutral sweaters and oversized scarves. Above I’ve compiled a few pictures of outfits that have been inspiring my outfits lately. Let me know what’s been inspiring you lately!
I am phasing my old summer wardrobe back into what I’m wearing daily, so with that being said, I’ve chosen a crop top and paired it with some high waisted jeans and a long white sweater. The look was topped off with my oversize BDG bag and Alex & Ani bracelets. I was nervous to try and rock a crop top but the jeans made the look both chic and summery.
Let me know what you guys are wearing today!
It is finally starting to feel a little warmer than ice cold. Which where I’m from means that it’s spring! With warmer weather means that I’m finally able to pull out the maxi skirts, sunnies, and soft blushes. Lately I’ve been more busy that I seem to be able to handle. With that being said, my Erin Condren agenda has become my best friend. Take a look at some of the things I’ve found Pinteresting while searching for spring inspiration.
If we are ready or not, spring is fast approaching. This spring Tarte has debuted a new palette full of some of my favorite shades. I adore palettes that include both matte and shimmery colors and this is the perfect one.
I have never been a huge fan of Tarte products however, when I saw this palette online I knew I had to have it. Seeing the palette in person reaffirmed my lust completely. As a personal preference I tend to stick to more neutral shades and this palette includes muaves, creams, dark auburn red purple tones, and my favorite a gorgeous champagne hue.
For the look pictured above, I started by putting the cream shade Charmer under my browbone.
Then I put Jetsetter between my browbone and crease. After I place Funny Girl on my whole lid and in the corner of my eye.
Then I apply Leader to my crease and blend. For a darker look I apply Activist to the outer V of my eye.
Lastly use an angled liner brush to apply Smokeshow to my upper and lower lash line.
Then I curl my lashes and I used Maybelline Lash Sensational mascara.
For my lips I used a NYX pencil liner in Nude Pink and Liquid Suede Cream Lipstick in Soft Spoken
I am in love with this palette and it is the perfect transition from winter into spring. Below is a list of the products featured above so check them out and next time you’re in a Sephora or Ulta give Tartelette In Bloom a try.
